Infinity’s Heir is almost done!

For some reason, the drive to write stuck in April and over the course of the month, I managed to write a grand total of 52,654 words! This means that the current total word count of the MS is 83,646. That’s an exciting number!

Now for the best part: I’m almost done!

I only have five chapters and an Epilogue left to write. Each chapter is currently averaging about 3,000 words. If I can continue writing at the pace I was in April, that means I should be able to finish the novel in about two weeks!

The prospect of finishing my first space opera is pretty exciting and I can’t wait to start reading through the finished work. I’m sure there are plenty of edits that need to be done (to both the writing and the story), but the simple fact that I’ve managed to finish another novel so soon after the one I wrote for NaNoWriMo last year is nothing short of amazing.

It’s a testament to how far I’ve come.

I’ve always enjoyed writing, but have never been good at it. Even when I was younger, there were stories in my head, but putting them to paper never did them justice. Back in 2012, I wanted that to change, so I started writing the first book in a trilogy that I named “The Age of Eshol”. For two whole years, I worked on this project, finishing two and a half of the three planned novels.

As I was working on the third, I had the desire to publish the first book in the series. I polished the novel, then started looking for Agents. Only then, did I realize that the work wasn’t up to snuff and that rewrites were necessary.

That project has been put on hold and since, I’ve spent my time writing Over the Edge and Infinity’s Heir. When I compare these two works to The Age of Eshol (in both writing and story), I find that that latter two are massive improvements over my first true foray into the writing world.

A quick side note: The Age of Eshol isn’t dead, just sleeping. There are lots of rewrites that I need to do in order for that trilogy to really shine – I just don’t feel like doing them right now. While I still really love that story, the thought of tearing it down, then building it back up again is something I don’t really like thinking about doing. Especially so soon after writing it. I’ll get to it one day, just not today or (probably) tomorrow…

The amount of momentum I’ve built up writing Over the Edge and Infinity’s Heir is immense. Though neither of the works have been published, I feel a sense of accomplishment from completing them (IH isn’t technically done, but I’m forecasting its completion sometime next week). On top of that, excitement and the drive to produce more. If nothing else, I’d love for this momentum to persist in 2016 – to carry me forward into the future. One that I hope is filled with more writing!
