Introducing Aiko’s Dive

Remember that YA sci-fi novel I started working on a little over a year ago?

It’s finally done!

The manuscript is tentatively titled Aiko’s Dive and tells the story of how Aiko and Fletcher, characters from a work of flash fiction called The Octavius Job, become acquainted.

I’m still terrible at writing about my stories, but I’ve tried my best to put something together about the book below:

Aiko is an orphan that has spent her entire life among aliens. Being the only one of her kind has kept her safe from the monsters that come once a year to take the other children away to fates unknown.

But then a man named Fletcher adopts her.

Life away from the orphanage is both wonderful and unexpected. There is so much more to the world than she could have ever expected, but she wasn’t adopted to experience the universe. Instead, she is meant to be Fletcher’s apprentice and learn everything he can teach her about deep-sea salvage.

Her existence is a meager one despite the fact that she’s far more comfortable than she ever was at the orphanage, and she quickly wonders whether there is anything else for her out in the world besides diving to the bottom of countless oceans. But when a job-gone-wrong from Fletcher’s distant past resurfaces, Aiko is challenged in way’s that she never expected.

For more information, you can visit this page. It has some information about the book, but I plan on updating it with more over the course of the next few weeks. I’m really excited about the finished product and I’m hoping that, when I start querying later this year, agents will be too.

Wish me luck!
