Now that the Write Mentor Summer Mentorship Program is finally over (except for the agent showcase, but more on that later), I’m finally able to turn my attention elsewhere. First and foremost, I spent a solid week doing absolutely nothing. Which was great. I needed the break!
But now…I’ve begun drafting something new…
In truth, there isn’t much to share at the moment. I’m currently in the process of doing a lot of world building (16 solid pages of it, so far). And I’m going to follow that up with an outline. What I can say, however, is that this will be an ambitious undertaking for me. All the other novels before this have felt pale in comparison to what I’m trying to craft now. And if I get lucky, this could be the one.
The name of the book is Where the Fog Falls, and takes place on a planet a very long way away from Earth. An off-course colony ship crash landed there hundreds of years ago, and the surviving humans managed to set up a lone city (name pending) on the planet. It’s successful, and the survivors live comfortable lives behind a wall that keeps out the native inhabitants. But the wall can’t keep those aliens from mind controlling colonists. These Thralls are a danger to everyone, and only people trained at the Hunter Academy (name pending) can protect everyone. The story follows Kirien Craw and her bid to become one of those hunters in hopes of avenging her mother, who was killed by a Thrall when Kirien was just a baby.
Obviously, I still have TONS of blanks to fill in, but that’s the general gist of where the story begins. But I promise there’ll be plenty of twists before it ends.
If this sounds interesting to you, make sure to come back every once in a while and check out the Where the Fog Falls page for updates!
See you all soon!
