I’ve finally completed another edit of Over the Edge. With it, the book feels more final than it ever has before. Pacing in the first few chapters should be a lot more brisk, pushing the story forward with no major breaks in the action throughout the entire piece. Though I know it isn’t possible, I’d love to have feedback from the same agent on the new pacing. Being able to directly compare how they feel about the rewrite would be a piece of invaluable information.
I know, however, that resubmitting the same work is impossible, so I’ll just have to make do with what I have.
Moving forward, I feel much more positive about what I have to submit with. My new query letter is a lot more comprehensive and delves a tiny bit deeper, highlighting some of the more personal aspects of the story. The new letter paired with the refreshed chapters should hopefully garner a few requests to read more.
Perhaps I’m being too positive? I really hope not.
I’m still waiting on a few more responses from other agents, but in the meantime, I’ll put new query materials together that reflect the newest version of the manuscript.
Here’s hoping that the next round of queries results in a more favorable outcome.
