Hi, all!
As you can see, I’ve been gone for a bit. Unfortunately, some family stuff altered the trajectory of my summer quite a bit, throwing me way off of my goals for the year. That said, I’ve still been doing stuff behind the scenes:
- Reading – I’ve been making a conscious effort to read a lot more in 2026. So far, I’ve read the following:
- There is no Antimemetics Division – This was a five star read for me! If you love cosmic horror and stuff like SCP or Control, then this book is going to be right up your alley!
- Altered Carbon – I watched the Netflix show before reading the book, and I feel like the show made some significant improvements to the narrative Morgan lays out in the book. It wasn’t bad, but I felt like it overstayed its welcome a tad. And unfortunately, wasn’t compelling enough for me to pick up any of the other books in the series.
- Ancillary Justice – Frankly, I was disappointed by this book. Considering how many awards it won, I expected a lot more. The characters were flat and the prose was equally parts complex and dry. Another book that didn’t draw me into the sequels.
- Writing – I’ve had the most success here, because I finished the first draft of Infringement (my cyberpunk novel that’ll appeal to anyone who loved Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep and Titanium Noir). It’s currently with critique readers, and hopefully I’ll get feedback soon enough to be able to get the next version out to beta readers by winter.
- Events – Unfortunately, I was forced to back out of my one big event of the year in July. I’m making up for that by trying to get my book into a local bookstore that requires attendance at occasional book events. I’m also keeping my fingers crossed that my local Barnes & Noble decides to bring me in for a signing later this fall.
- Blog Posts – As you can tell, I’ve fallen behind on blog post updates this year amidst the whirlwind of other stuff going on. But honestly, I haven’t had much in the way of updates to give. That said, I’m considering some alternatives, and I’d love your feedback. So, feel free to vote in the poll below!
As always, I appreciate each and every one of you! And as always, thanks for following along!
